It always amazes me just how many pots R2D2 will hold! This rack of pots, plus a large set of nesting bowls and I still had room to spare. I always start loading really conservative and as I finish the 2nd shelf I begin to realize that I have more room than I need. After this firing I really have to sand down and kiln wash those shelves.

I have kiln envy. I have the opposite problem with my kiln. I can never fit everything in, but then, mine is toy size compared to yours. I have the L&L Liberty Bell, the interior is only about 16"x18" .
ReplyDeleteCindy is that the 23 or 28t L&L? We love our e23t it's cooling off after a hard nights work right now.
ReplyDeleteStill haven't had the spare change to get our Skutt 12-27 operational yet.
R2D2! Isn't it funny how we name our kilns? My Bailey is named Helios. :)
ReplyDeleteI love seeing how others stack their kiln I learn so much, as in I have never laid a vase down to fire it, what a good idea. I have a tall vase that just won't fit, once I bisque it, it will probably fit then, thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteI do love this kiln, but it takes a long time for me to make enough pottery to fill it up. It turns glazing day into glazing week. We got it a couple years back, dirt cheap on craigs list. It was brand new, never fired. To our surprise we had to convert it from 3 phase to single phase power. L&L was really great to walk us through it. It's the e28T- 10.2 cf.
ReplyDeleteHello ! I am new to this blog.
ReplyDeleteI found it by looking for some info on Hawaiian Red Clay..emailed Cindy with a question..I too have an L&L Kiln..I love it! It is 23" wide and 27" deep. For a number of years I was into slip-cast..over 100 molds..then several years nothing..slip-cast...but now I am doing hand-built clay. Yesterday and today I made my first piece in many years :):) It feels so good to be back.
I will have to come up with a name for my own kiln :) I guess I could call it BLAZE...b/c I would always tell my husband that I was getting ready to torch off the kiln :)
It does take a while to fill it..At least with hand-built I don't have to pour..dry..clean before I can fire..JUst build dry and torch her off LOL
