New Year ~ Old Favorites

I made it out to the the studio finally.  Bummer starting the New Year sick :(

I got a special request for a "Forever Bowl". I forgot how fun they are to make. Last year I made a series of "Message Bowls" that said different things.  My favorite was the "Jerk Bowl" :) Funny how fast that one sold. The last one to sell from the series was the "Misunderstood Bowl". I'm planning on making more of the "Message Bowl" series, but I think I'll keep the messages a bit more positive this time.
I also threw a couple dozen Ice Cream Cone Bowls, which are another old favorite.

When it comes to making and selling pottery I often wonder about repeat-ware.  Does the art aspect get weak when the same piece is made over and over again? I keep coming back to something Simon Leach said, (I'm not quoting because I don't remember his exact words) the message was, not to get "fussy" about the art, but be serious about the craft.

I still like the word art better than the word craft.  I just hope that my pottery will be the piece chosen above all others in the cabinet.  I want it to be used and used until one day some dumb-ass drops and brakes it, then runs frantically to the computer, pulling up my Etsy Shop and purchases two pieces of pottery to replace the broken one.
